Run With The Big Dogs
I played in Macomb, Mississippi and heard guys saying that phrase. Thought it might make a good song. Mike O'Daniel's guitar riff in this version is excellant!

The Stories Behind The Songs
When You Take The "L" Out Of Lover, It's Over
Played a club in Dallas called "The Loft". A guy named Tommy Hooten came in. I was asking people to give me a subject so I could make up a song on the spot. Hooten yelled out "take the "L" out of Lover, and it's Over.". I loved it! I wrote the song and Tommy and I are still good friends today.
I Ain't Givin' It Up
I wanted to write something that I thought Elvis might have liked, if he were still alive. I also wanted to come out of the bridge in the key of D and do the last verse in the key of G so I could really belt it out. I don't know how I came up with the line, it just came to me one night.
